This half-day workshop will address the factors involved in the development and maintenance of depressive symptomology. RE & CBT is an extremely effective treatment modality for depression. It not only teaches clients how to manage their depression-related thoughts, moods, and behaviors; it also encourages them to identify what they value and to work toward developing more meaningful relationships and activities. This half-day workshop will focus on how depression occurs and re-occurs and how evidence-based treatment approaches can be used to help under-motivated and stuck clients.
Understand the etiology behind the development and maintenance of depression.
Utilize an RE & CBT framework toward understanding depression.
Apply evidence-based interventions in the treatment of depression.
Apply at least three REBT techniques for treatment of depression.
Implement goal-setting strategies and methods for determining change.
1:30 – 3:00 – Review of empirically based treatments of depression, REBT’s approach to treatment of depression
3:00 – 4:30 – cognitive, behavioral, and emotive interventions for depression
4:30 – 4:45 – Evaluations/Q&A
