Wednesday, December 3, 2014
7:00pm - 8:30pm

Tis’ the season….for managing difficult family members, for multiple office holiday parties, for just one more glass of eggnog. We often make excuses for over-indulging during the holiday season; however, sometimes, we eat to numb ourselves from uncomfortable feelings such as anxiety, depression, loneliness, and boredom. If this scenario sounds familiar, then this lecture is for you! Come learn the triggers of your emotional eating and drinking, and more importantly, effective strategies for overcoming this self-sabotaging behavior.

List Price: $20.00

Presenter: Michael Hickey, Ph.D.

Date: Wednesday, November 5, 2014
Time: 7:00pm - 8:30pm

A popular holiday song states, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year.” But does it truly need to be? The expectations and demands we put on ourselves and others during this time of year often lead to unnecessary stress and unhealthy emotions. Using principles of Rational Emotive & Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (RE&CBT), participants will learn to identify and challenge maladaptive beliefs and thought patterns that can often be triggered by the imposed myths and expectations of various aspects of the holiday season. Participants will also learn behavioral techniques for stress management, including relaxation techniques, assertiveness skills, and effective planning strategies. This lecture is certain to give you some gifts that keep giving all year round!
