by Raymond DiGiuseppe, Ph.D.
This CD presents a talk about anger given by Dr. Raymond DiGiuseppe, a renowned anger researcher. Dr. DiGiuseppe explains the lack of research regarding anger and anger disorders in the psychology literature. Common myths of anger such as the need to “let it out” are addressed and challenged through citation of current research studies. Utilizing REBT theory, typical irrational beliefs associated with anger such as demandingness, global ratings of others, and low frustration tolerance are identified and explained. In addition, reasons for giving up anger are discussed as Dr. DiGiuseppe highlights how short-term benefits from anger result in social traps that lead to long-term negative consequences.
