It’s the holiday season and the most wonderful time of the year for a lot of us. It’s also a time where there is a lot of planning, traveling, and spending.  A time where busy schedules become busier, school finals or work projects compound the stress, and aiming to please family members can become a chore. And while we race toward the end of the year, we may lose track of taking steps to engage in self-care.

A major component of REBT, as well as other psychotherapies, is to, above all, take care of yourself in order to be able to take care of other people. In the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, do we always remember to take care of ourselves in order to take care of holiday business? Do we want to go through the holiday season undergoing unnecessary stress?

So remember the basics: rest plenty, eat well (while allowing yourself to indulge from time to time!), exercise, and you will be able enjoy a more fulfilling holiday season and appreciate your time with others much more. Try making a list of self-care activities and get in the habit of practicing a couple during these busy holiday weeks.

Happy Holidays!
